This includes the laws and procedures that govern the protection of personal information, as well as methods of maintaining data confidentiality and anonymity. Therefore, the chapter aims to emphasise the ethical procedures in contemporary IS research projects, which act as a practical guide to the key issues that relate to the protection of personal data. In addition to the chapter contents, definitions, facts, tables, figures, activities, and case studies are provided to reinforce researcher and practitioner learning of the data protection, confidentiality and anonymity issues associated with contemporary IS research projects.
